Laboratory soil investigations

Soil characteristics play a predominant role in dredging operations. MTI has an own soil mechanics laboratory where all soil characteristics relevant for dredging can be determined. To mention a few of the most important ones:

  • Unconfined compression strength, tensile strength and specific weight for rock samples.
  • Grain size distribution and abrasiveness for sand and gravel.
  • Cohesion, plasticity and adhesion limits, specific weight, viscosity and organic matter content for clay, silt and peat respectively.

We can determine required soil characteristics for you quickly and at moderate cost at our in house soil laboratory.
